About Us

The American International Women's Club of Lausanne (AIWC) was founded in 1968. The purpose of the Club is to promote fellowship among English-speaking women, and to encourage their interest in cultural and philanthropic endeavors. The Club has over 500 full members, of whom one-third are American.   

The Club is a non-profit organization, run on an entirely volunteer basis. Some thirty Activity groups cover a wide range of interests, from crafts to hiking, skiing or music appreciation. There are monthly breakfast or luncheon programs featuring speakers on various themes, and several fundraising events during the Club year, from September to June.

Spring is here and so is the new spring/summer collection.  If you have not yet made space in your closet, please consider this event an opportunity to bring your nearly new clothes (and other items) to sell at the Nearly New Sale.

Please bring only clean clothes.  Toys and children's cloths are welcome.  All books and videos currently in the Club's library will also be on sale.  Freshly-baked cookies and cakes can be sold at the coffee table.

All proceeds of the Sale will go to the soup kitchen of the Fondation Mere Sophia in Lausanne.  For more information about the Fondation, visit their website at www.fondation.ch.

In addition to the sale, we will also be hosting a US Voter Registration event for all US Citizens.  If you haven't yet registered to vote in this year's historic election, please drop by the Club to take care of it.  If you are unable to make it, please visit the Overseas Vote Foundation's website:  www.overseasvotefoundation.org to learn more.

• Newcomers’ Coffee

  Every second Wednesday of the month at 9:30am. The Membership and Hospitality Committees welcome all old, new and prospective members to coffee at the Hotel Movenpick, Ouchy, Lausanne. No registration needed.
